    She truly was. I feel like that has been the resounding tribute of those who knew her . . . how well she loved and supported and encouraged.

    My sister complex-hard to categorize, difficult to put in a an ideological box, impossible to typecast. But she was defined by love; love as exemplified by Jesus. As someone who knew her well, maybe the best, I can confirm that was her truest identity.

    Listen, I have done my level best to refrain but this is just unbelievable. Out of all of the many (MANY) people Rachel loved, amplified, and empowered who would have loved to remember her in these hard days, the last person I want to read is "Greg the Apologist."

    I think we are all full up on tributes to Rachel Held Evans from white guys who "didn't always agree with her" but can now acknowledge that she had an important voice. None more needed. Thank you.

    Ask the women who have careers because of her championing. Ask the mothers of gay kids. Ask the queer believers who found welcome. Ask the women who are in ministry now. Ask the ones who found Jesus, who found hope, who found their voice. Literally ask ANYONE from .

    I keep crying then laughing bc Rach was hilarious. One of my fav Rachel-isms is her recounting growing up in white evangelical culture (paraphrasing): “as I hit puberty, I learned I had to be concerned about my growing *stumbling blocks* and how boys might trip over them.” 🤣
