Controversial opinion?
I really don't use #LightningNetwork at all, I use Bitcoin all-the-time. The fees are commercially viable & the censorship resistance is bar none
LN is amazing tech,I just see too much hype for a market that could be better served w/ most effort put on L1

Despite. I frequently use on-chain tx's for
@bitrefill even though LN is option. Not enuff other services offer LN so it doesn't make sense for me to maintain a channel just for one merchant.
I run a LN node, so don't see a big downside (ok, takes time) in opening a new channel and paying via LN instead of just paying onchain, if merchant offers both options. Did that with #HCPP tickets last year, for example (couldn't route payment with existing channels back then).

Yeah. I think the LN / not LN distinction in ui will fade away in a not too distant future. You’ll have both on the same utxos and will scan the same qr code. It will choose whichever works best.

My vision is that you as an ordinary consumer (not a geek) will just pay to a merchant and will not know what happens under the hood - simple onchain payment, CoinJoin, LN channel opening, LN payment or some other stuff.
