Works very well with the reverse-enginered vfs0097 patch for libfprint. I'm using it on Arch linux (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libfprint-vfs0097-git/ …) Tested on Gnome and lightdm (light- locker) Upstream project: https://github.com/nmikhailov/Validity90 … HTH

Do you know if GNOME’s suspend option does the same thing as this?

This controls what the ACPI tables will present to the OS, so it knows some of the things that must be done to suspend (in a way that's resumable). Most of the hard work is done by the kernel. (GNOME will basically lock the screen and tell the kernel to suspend.)
