What if-- The way that energy works means that when you’re thinking about someone, that person also starts to think about you? Only we’re all such poor communicators that we never know?

Voters need to trust the election process, regardless of who is operating the system. Mistakes were made in Iowa, and voters' confidence has been shaken. But people should not lose faith in our democracy. We must keep voting, while we demand accountability and improvement.

LA Police Commission just approved a new policy that, for the first time, evaluates police shootings based on whether “other available resources and techniques” could’ve been used instead.

What we've learned: Not only are caucuses ableist and classist, they're also wholly inefficient.

16 years ago, I was in college and a sitting president ran on a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. It shaped my understanding of myself and how the world viewed me. Today, a gay man who is married and about three years older than me just won the Iowa caucus.

FINALLY! 62% of the 15.7% of eligible caucus-goers of the state representing 0.97% of the US popultion have had their voices heard!

Now that the Iowa caucus has become obsolete, hopefully we can move on to holding elections where one person gets one vote, the numbers get tallied up in a reasonable amount of time, and the candidate with the most votes wins.

Why are people surprised by the undemocratic nature of delegate allocation in Iowa when we have the archaic system that is the Electoral College and 18% of the US pop. elects 52% of the US Senate? The entire system is a farce and skews towards the minority.

Mayor Pete doing so well in Iowa is an absolute rebuke of Steve King's hateful ideology, and is a sign of safety and comfort for gay men across the U.S. I am very happy for them.

And we can argue about how much his white, male-ness helped him (along with the help he received from billionaire donors and seemingly Republican-like policies)... but IOWA is home to Congressman Steve King, one of the most homophobic members of Congress in decades.

For an openly gay man to place in the top 3 or 4 candidates in IOWA (let alone first or second place) is an incredibly important milestone.

I want to acknowledge that while Mayor Pete is far from my choice to win the primary (and while I have more ?s than answers about Iowa right now) I'm very happy for my LGBT friends -especially my gay, male friends- who will see Pete's success in Iowa as a sign of LGBT acceptance.

Anyone who is upset by the electoral college system should be equally upset by this non-democratic system.

As of right now in the Iowa Caucus count, Bernie Sanders is ahead in the popular vote, and yet Pete Buttigieg leads in delegates. That is called a broken system.

While everyone else was screaming about Iowa... I sat in on a local city council meeting because cities do a lot of really important, progressive things that impact all of our lives just as much as the Presidential race. More people need to pay attention to their city councils.

Having discrepancies -once again- between the popular vote and the delegate count is not a good look for Democrats. It turns people off from politics, fuels conspiracy ideas and makes people think that the system can never be made fair.
