Once again: we were told that a #carbontax would reduce carbon dioxide emissions. It’s not. CO2 emissions are going up even though we have he highest carbon tax in Canada. Oh, and no “social license” has been granted for our natural resources. Sure enough the goalposts are moved.https://twitter.com/mmacscot/status/1081241825363382273 …

Have you factored in the population swell that BC has been experiencing the last 9 years? Also, carbon taxes are not just for emission reduction. They finance alternative energy initiatives.

Taxes on taxes. GST, carbon tax, ICE, call it what you want, but when will this gov't rip-off end? Check out @stopthebiscuit’s Tweet:https://twitter.com/stopthebiscuit/status/1081050539809398784?s=09 …

BC = Bring Cash For 2 months: Commodity charge (actual nat gas consumed) $28.21 Carbon tax $24.10 ICE (gov't imposed levy Integrated Clean Energy) $0.83 Total GST $11.69 Total gov't cut = $36.62. Not a bad take for only $28.21 of nat gas used. #bcpoli #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/wpA85foPYc

Hilarious about how many excuses the pro carbon tax people are now coming up with now that it has been shown that their carbon tax isn’t the magic bullet they claimed it would be. Any reduction in Emissions will be as a result of private sector innovation and not by added taxes

Interesting, @jkenney taking his cues from the CTF rather than actually reviewing the long-term data. The 10-year trend clearly shows a -2.9% DECLINE in GHG overall (see table below) despite population increasing from 4.2 to 4.8 million #YYC #yyccc #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli https://twitter.com/jkenney/status/1080924512630128640 …

For those that keep saying factor in population. I did a quick look at gas (just gas on road, not diesel). In 2008 it was 1.027 litres per person per year. In 2017 it is 1.025 litres per person per year (values in calc from Stats Can). Low was in 2013 @ .945.

To put that into context here are the average vehicle fuel efficiencies by year (source US Bureau of Transport Stats). So yes, if you normalize for fuel efficiency consumption per person is up considerably.pic.twitter.com/B60V75FpGa
