There are some companies selling puzzles that make brain-health claims; some even have spokespeople with PhDs. I find these claims to be overly broad and borderline-to-blatantly unethical, and I do not make such claims on my own website. 4/4

As someone who enjoys making and solving puzzles, I would like to say that I do NOT believe that puzzles "improve memory", "raise your IQ," "forestall dementia," or significantly improve brain heath. 1/4

A few people have reported that my interactive puzzles are not loading, since I added a new feature yesterday. If you are experiencing this, and are bored and nerdy, contact me via DM, so I can collect some diagnostics. Thanks!

Had great fun sharing my love of recreational programming with Talya’s 6th grade math class this morning. Random number generators for the win!

#1 pro of @zoom_us school: experts can come visit! Today @krazydad_sudoku visited and taught us about making puzzles & using a random generator. Afterwards, the Ss got to work on @PlayCraftLearn and tried random generators for themselves. Best #chickenrain! @MSMakeCode #edtech

Pretty clever Two Not Touch / Star Battle pattern, sent to me by a 12-year old. The arrow points to a square you can rule out with this shape. Took me a minute to reason it out!

Yesterday, I got a nice letter from a computer scientist who is solving my NYTimes logic puzzles with a quantum computer. Honestly, the whole idea of quantum computing is baffling to me, but I *think* maybe this means the puzzle-singularity is fast approaching!

“Hi Jim: One more picture – My Father in law just loves his birthday gift.  He uses the yellow and orange marbles for known dead squares. When he has to test theories, he uses blue ones.   He’s keeping me busy with board resets!”

...and we're back :-) Pretty sure someone at Dreamhost typed a zero when they were explicitly told to type a zero, but in fact, should have typed a one.

Hi Krazydad fans. My puzzle website is having some issues, due to an issue with my DNS provider (Dreamhost). Hopefully they will come back shortly. In the meantime, I have some lovely books on Amazon? :-)
Launching Ephemeral Sudoku in a few days. Each book in this series will be sold for just three months, only to disappear like tears in rain. Hopefully we'll make it Volume 2!

Just to be clear, if you are preparing class materials (and not selling them), I’m gonna grant permission. That’s what the puzzles are for! Now if I could just get them into more prison libraries...

Slowly adding to my digital problem solving notebook. I'm grateful to @krazydad_sudoku for giving me permission to use 2 of his puzzle forms as examples. Here's today's addition. #iteachmath
