    Why is PlantUML's website so fucking terrible? Massive amounts of ads, '00 style social buttons, really poor contrast, *incredibly misleading ads*, poor linking, no accessibility...

    If I'm getting views of data from the origin database via couchdb replication to pouchdb, and therefor don't need to fetch data via http endpoints, what's the best way to communicate mutations to a server?

    there's a related phenomenon here: coding as a gatekept, narrowly-defined practice, assumed inaccessible, such that people often don't realize when what they're doing qualifies—which includes stuff like this as well as folks quietly building enterprise software in Excel or Access

    ditto. i was recently explaining that i had made a joke dating questionnaire in html in college when i was bored. turns out i was using conditional statements, nesting, select tags, logical operators, and other stuff i hadn't even realized i knew just to screw around on LJ.
