I love mine too. I had a hard time with the original tape that came with the kit but I ordered new and it worked 100% the first go. Maybe the original got to hot or cold in shipping to USA.
I used 2/3 of the tape to got it working at least. I cut the last piece I used in 3 parts so that I don't run out of tape, don't know where to get new tape 
where did you buy and what is its name or brand?
The name of double-sided tape is called "Z axis conductive tape 9703".
