very great feature when doing kotlin (or any other code) migration, it allows to have same class name to simplify reading and when the migration is over, the only modification is to remove the 'as'.

This feature also exists in golang: import ( libone "http://github.com/userone/repoone/superlib …" libtwo "http://github.com/usertwo/repotwo/superlib …" "http://github.com/userxx/repoxx/libwithoutalias … )

Used it... maybe one or twice in a real project when I had name conflict. The support for dot notation like in Python would be more useful. Import alias is primarily used on trainings to block some functions, like: import kotlin.something as `Nope, implement it yourself`

I find it quite useful when you try to import a java Class or Function that clashes with Kotlin keywords. Typical example: renaming Mockito's "when" to "whenever" so you don't end up with ugly back ticks everywhere (although this example is outdated thanks to Mockito Kotlin).

Quite old Kotlin feature. I haven't used it for a while.
It's useful to solve conflicts in imported classes names. - Još 1 odgovor
