    I did an unpaid UN internship & it was so unfair that a few interns & I organised to push against them in The Hague (we didn't succeed - but we tried) Still lots of work to be done in other UN agencies & the IO sector, but glad to see take a stance!

    The analogy here with HIV by is quite compelling -- specifically that most HIV-related deaths occurred *after* we had effective ART. The same might be true about Covid and effective vaccines, unless distribution rapidly improves.

    Lot of folks out there confuse "history" with "stories from the past that make me feel good about who I am in the present." Most of the time, when somebody's whining about "rewriting history," what they mean is "this knowledge about a real thing that happened makes me feel bad."

    Reports that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, is dead. Shekau either was killed by members of the rival ISWAP group or through suicide. By my count, this is the ninth occasion in which claims of Shekau's death emerged from Nigeria, but the first to not come from state sources
