Yep. The phone handset is my favorite part too.
I wish we had more pictures from that era, but we were so paranoid about secrecy, and we didn’t have good cameras in our phones!

Our early iOS oftware prototypes were straight-up Mac apps. The Wallaby was tethered to the G3 tower and showed up as an external monitor.pic.twitter.com/WJn3T6ZNB5

How far ahead of the creation of the Wallaby was this photo?

Not too long. I recall that this picture was taken in late 2005 or early 2006. I was issued my first Wallaby a few months before that.

Correct. Making a pleasant-to-use touch-based system was the hard part. Although, as I recall, the ARM port of ObjC and our software frameworks was done for the phone project—but it was far from being the first new arch for that code.
