They shouldn’t. They should supplement it. The criminal legal process is long (think years) and flawed. Meanwhile, if schools do nothing, a rape victim may have to attend classes with his or her rapist (“because defendants often get out on bail pending trial).

Remember Rape is a serious crime no mater where it happened. Report it to the law enforcement who are equipped to handle crime. College's mission is to educate students, not to take over law enforcement's responsibilities to handle rape allegations.
