Meanwhile in the Rubicon State Forest, logging continues. WHY?

Asbestos, that was another bunch of warnings by scientists for decades that we just ignored for a really long time too. Could we stop doing that?

Yes there will be post-fire divorces, suicides, drug and alcohol abuse and more. It will go on for years, ever. Precisely why salvage logging should not be done as it does further traumatises people, we know!

After towns were coming to terms with the impacts of fire, salvage logging came in and ripped those scabs off. CFA folk who’d save this bush, watched it carried away on log trucks. Re-traumatised community again.

Not a skit from Clarke and Dawe: this is an actual senator in the Australian government.

Heartbreaking given terrible decline of koalas, made worse by bushfires. Decline of Australia's most iconic animal tells you all you need to know about the state of the environment. Patriotic? The *Australia* you love is disappearing before your eyes...

Declaring a force-majeure would be the right thing to do in the light of the impact of the bushfires. Logging is still happening in the Central Highlands as we tweet, pic from Friday 31/1/20

Victoria has allowed a culture of wildlife killing with pathetic penalties, think eagles, gliders and VicForests koala killing. Community are forced to take government to court to ensure regulations are followed, enough! It’s time for tougher penalties

Tragic that these last pieces of beaufiful intact ecosystems are being destroyed for paper, when the raw materials could be sourced right now from plantations

The situation down at Portland is currently under investigation by the Conservation Regulator and . If these deaths are found to be deliberate, we expect swift action against those responsible. No excuses.

Woods running out mate, time for transition was 20 years ago. You delayed that, now we all face consequences less water for Victorians, increased fire risk in our towns, endangered aussie wildlife and loss of drawn down carbon increasing climate emergency. Logging hurts all of us

I see koalas are being killed during the harvest of eucalypt plantations in Victoria. Clearly they like living in the new forests...so why can't we create plantations that don't kill them, ..or even create new forests that won't be logged?

Earlier today in Healesville. ⁦⁩ ⁦⁩ ⁦⁩ signs are there, we’ve lost so much habitat to fire, it’s time to stop logging native forest. If there was ever a time for a force-majeure it’s now.
