    Have you ever seen this Walter Benjamin quote about the angel of history? I don't really have the context on historicism to understand the essay it comes from, but this idea stuck with me independent of how I feel about it.

    What does it mean to be a "functional programming language?" Immutability by default? Rust is FP. First-class functions? Java 8 is FP. No side effects? Scheme is not FP. No objects? OCaml is not FP. Let's face it: the definition of a FP language is "I know it when I see it." 😛
