    Lumen went through many changes and challenges, with more ahead of us. Already UE5-main has features which didn't make it to Early Access :). Today we can pause for a while, and be blow away by the amazing things community is doing on the 1st day of UE5 EA

    I always though that "automatically limit search to selection" is a bug in Visual Studio. Turns out it's a feature, and it's possible to disable it :)

    Inspiring HPG 2021 keynote from . There's certainly some creative magic happening when you combine quick interactive iterations with an elegant simplicity, even though the tradeoff may be an overall less capable tool.

    It's amazing to see O3DE released with source. When I was starting, even though IdTech3 source was somewhat outdated, it still provided an unique opportunity to see how a pro codebase looks like. Nowadays it's just insane as you get a real-time access to repos of pro engines.

    Returned to the original Quake after like 10 years. It greeted me with open arms - with new amazing single player content like Dopa (2016) or Epochs of Enmity (2020), and full DM servers :)

    ReSTIR applied for GI. Cool idea of spatiotemporal PDF prefiltering instead of just prefiltering final pixel colors, where possible improvements are limited.

    Game Builder's Garage is an excellent "programming" game and we have lots of fun with it. It flew under the radar with all that E3 buzz, but definitively worth checking out if you're looking for a creative game for kids:

    A bit over 3y ago I've joined Epic to experience this crazy ride. I'm very thankful for everyone who made it possible, and gave a chance for this random dude from an unknown company. I'll also never forget that one guy who didn't react during interview and made me super anxious:)

    Looking for a monitor upgrade for programming and investigating profiler graphs. Something ~100-110 PPI. Any recommended setup? I'm considering: A. 2x27" 1440p, B. 4k 43", C. 38" ultrawide.

    frac() isn't exactly a fraction when dealing with negative values. It is defined as y=x - floor(x), so frac(-0.75)=0.25

    It's a common pattern in shaders to encode one bit in a positive float as sign, and then decode it as: value = abs(x) and flag = x >= 0 ? true : false. There's also a common bug with it. -0 == +0, so can't decode flag anymore when value is 0.

    Ghost of Tsushima over the top graphics and lightweight approach to gameplay was exactly what I needed to recover after finishing TLoU2. Also it is insane how good both of those games look on a hardware launched in 2013.

    Epic's fall rendering internship position is an unique opportunity to be a part of Epic, when we are building our next gen UE5 tech. Don't be discouraged by Cary/Larkspur. It's a remote position and I'd love to see more people applying outside of US!
