As an author of this study, I can confidently say that it does not show that Conservative or Classical Liberal YouTubers are "preventing racism," or any of the other bad-faith interpretations I've seen from far-right outlets

Incentives are against doing long term research outside academia (6 month - 1 year product cycles are norm). Incentives are against doing immediately useful research in academia (can't publish simple methods that solve problems up to 90%). Do what you like, but tradeoffs exist.

the bishop of orlando is also the bishop of the moon, due to a canon law that says "any newly discovered territory would fall under the bishopric from whence the discovering expedition departed". his is therefore the largest catholic diocese, at over 14,000,000 square miles

Democrats on Twitter are more likely to identify as liberal and to support candidates that pursue policy priorities vs. finding common ground with Republicans (compared with Democrats who aren’t on Twitter)

It’s incredibly funny that “Twitter” generally speaking, as experienced by me, has had over the past five years two major plotlines: (A) a growing suspicion of consumerism, advertising, and mass media, and (B) a consistent disdain for the (unread) work of David Foster Wallace.

"Social Security and Medicare were the product of a consensus that the economy had broken the process of growing old. Today’s progressives argue, in part, that the economy has broken the process of growing up."

Great detail about the DMR Iowa Survey fiasco showing how critical humdrum mechanics are to polling operations. is the best in the business; the fact that she has held back the results amid so much pressure is a testament to her firm's integrity

This very good and important paper by Ben Hammond and Leah Rosenstiel at Princeton is recently out at APSR. I saw this presented last year at MPSA and it has lots of implications for research using federal spending data

I had to get a background check for my job, and it turns out the report is a 300+ page pdf of every single tweet I’ve ever liked with the work “fuck” in it. Enjoy your dystopian bs! *waves*

How could you *not* like this? People overestimate what % of their friends/followers would like or comment on their content if they saw it in their feed — which means they also underestimate the size of their audience.
