    10 years ago on this date I started a job as a High School Teacher in Bastrop, Tx. I just manually copied over some old blog posts I wrote about the experience. I'll never forget the lessons I learned in those short 7 months.

    Looking back at my old homepage designs. This one was a hand-drawn landscape scene, with horizontal scrolling (instead of vertical) so I could show off a neat parallax effect.

    Does anyone else get the "Amazon wants you to see this item at " spam email? I've gotten a few over the past month and am not sure how best to stop it but still allow friends to send recommendations. maybe I just block all like that.

    sometimes when I'm stuck on a complex programming task I just have to remind myself to write the implementation that I wish worked, then work backwards to make it actually do that. helps a bunch to define the requirements I actually need, versus a vague wishlist of ideas.

    When I was in high school there were these two competing cliques. One day they met in the lunchroom. Each side eyed each other with demise. The tension in the lunchroom was so high you could cut it with a spork.
