“... based on my legal and political views,...” He precludes the possibility that I could be commenting on his behavior and the patterns of his expressed beliefs (which seem fixed toward benefiting the president, no matter what), which is medical information.

“... and without ever examining or even meeting me.” I have made clear that, whenever I am commenting on the president, I am speaking out of public health concerns, not individual clinical responsibility, since he is not my patient (hence no examination is necessary).

“I am formally asking [the American Psychiatric Association] to discipline Dr. Lee.” It cannot discipline a non-member, and the “rule” he is speaking of is the one that cannot apply outside voluntary membership, as it conflicts with the First Amendment.

“And, you know, forget about the Goldwater rule....” So he seems to know I did not break the Goldwater rule? The purpose of the Goldwater rule is to protect public health, not protect a public figure: this needs to be clarified once and for all.

“It’s just wrong for a psychiatrist to diagnose somebody on political grounds. It cuts off debate.” Is he not truncating debate by deciding that I diagnosed, and did so on political grounds? Jumping to conclusions does not facilitate debate, if that is what he desires.

“Lee told the News that she did not ‘diagnose’ Dershowitz and Trump’s followers.” One can make an analogy with the current deadly coronavirus situation. Preparation in case of a pandemic is important, after enough people have been identified as definite or probable “cases”.

“Dershowitz told the News that Lee’s tweets ‘certainly seemed like a diagnosis,’ because they used medical terms.” Is this the rigor of a lawyer? A diagnosis is extremely specific, and most of what we do using medical terminology is not diagnosis.

“Lee [invited] him to a discussion at Yale, which he refused on the basis of health issues…. ‘Let me be very clear,’ Dershowitz said. ‘I am happy to debate her.’” Apparently not happy enough to wish to travel, which posed no problem for being on the president’s legal team.

This last point is concrete evidence of his emotional commitment to the president, which predisposes to shared psychosis, which, in overall context, serves as a the most plausible explanation for his strange behavior.

(By the way, for those who are worried about me, I have received plenty of faculty support, former law students have offered to launch a letter-writing campaign, and even a Harvard Law graduate has written to Harvard requesting that they sever ties with the professor emeritus!)

I just want to point out that it sounds like Dershowitz is showing signs of mental incapacity and derangement. His recent supposed legal arguments are logically incoherent, and no longer recognized by his former students.
