Nagen was arrested in Singapore in 2009. He was 20 years old. To the Singapore state, he was defined by that arrest, which led to charge, conviction, sentence, now death. To his family, Nagen was so much more. He was, and still is, so loved. Today, he will finally go home.

The wake is now over and Nagen is on his way home to Ipoh. His sister Sarmila would like me to convey the family’s thanks to everyone who attended the wake and prayed and mourned for Nagen. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Last night, going through my bags to pack for Ipoh, I found various pieces of paper still tucked into the pouches and pockets: a copy of an affidavit from Nagen’s brother Navin, which I delivered to the lawyer’s office because he’d been stuck in quarantine at the time.

Yes, you can use this photo. I don’t know who actually took the photo ‘cos it was from a photo shoot in the prison, but this photo was provided by the family.
