"As long as Mastercard and Visa take an anti-porn, anti-sex work stance, none of these sites are safe." My thoughts on OnlyFans, what sex workers around the world are up against, and who is really to blame.

Yes, merchandise. That is definitely what the cops should be focused on right now, not humans like the ones asking for help on Twitter out of desperation.

The true name of New Orleans is Phoenix. It always comes back because we always come back. This storm may be a baby. But that doesn't mean any of us are safe.

In her life, she survived storms in the 60s, but doesn't remember the ones in the 70s or 80s. They weren't a big deal. But you've had to be vigilant for 26 years straight back to the flood of May '95. You know climate change is speeding up the clock to Armageddon.

Throughout the day, you and Mama exchange stories, sing, laugh. There are sad moments about lost loved ones. You don't talk about what you actually lost 16 years ago. She lost the only home she loved. You lost your house. Don't bring up the mud inside the living room. The smell.

Your untreated PTSD from Katrina has you packed up in the car with your mother and already on the eastern edge of the city early Saturday morning. You're NOT getting stuck in your car in the rain for over 24 hours like you did in the storms that lead up to Big K.

But then they say it will be a 3 like Katrina. No wait. It might a 4. That's like Thanos showing up. The storm might fall apart before it does real pain. But if it holds, goodbye roof, goodbye neighborhood, goodbye Superdome, again.

The decision to stay or go is never simple. The storm is smallish. You won't leave for a category 1. You were practically born during one of those. But they say it might be a two. That'll kill the power. You won't be able to power the AC. Your mother will get sick in the heat.

You didn't even know the storm existed yesterday morning. Then a loved one put you on. You saw the possible paths. It's supposed to hit far west of you. Those poor Cajuns. But now it's making a beeline for New Orleans and its place in history. They call it Ida like a sweet aunt.

One of the tragedies of Katrina were the lost pictures. You can still see some of those phantom photos of you as a child in a yellow and gray tank staring at the neighbor girl just out of frame. That photo is gone. But you don't pack any photos today Everything is on social media

The troubling part is deciding what to take and what to leave. Some things are obvious. Money and passports. But not your pretty blues guitar. You haven't played it in years. It would dominate the back seat of the car, which has newish tires but may not last out the trip. Thread

  15. Thinking about "A Paradise Built in Hell" and the number of times people came together to help each other after a disaster... ... And how many times big nonprofits and government agencies showed up to violently shut down mutual aid projects only to put something worse in place.

My "little sis" from sorority in college is a nurse at a hospital in NOLA. She's sleeping in an exam room and wearing a hospital bracelet with her name on it "in case they find our bodies...they know who we are." Healthcare workers, there are not enough words to thank you.
