The backstory: The podcast, hosted by @dylanmarron, takes two people who’ve had some online beef and gets them together to talk. This was a live show, moderated by Dylan with @robynkanner and I as the guests. Robyn and I had, however, been in touch before this event....

The first time Robyn reached out to me was when she was writing this. She wanted to interview me but our only prior interaction was her calling me “trash” after my detransition piece came out. And now she wanted a favor? Hell no. I declined.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/16/opinion/esquire-american-boy-cancel-culture.html …

But then she apologized and said that some things had happened in life (detailed in the podcast) that made her change her perspective. And I realized that if I actually believe in change and tolerance and talking through problems instead of tweeting about them, we should talk.

So we did. It was great. And then, when Dylan asked us to do the live show, I almost said no again bc I was afraid of being egged on stage. But it was also a free trip to NYC & Dylan seemed committed to trying to help make the world/internet a less toxic space so I said yes.

The podcast is that event. And I’m so glad I did it. There were moments of fear (seeing Emma Sulkowicz in the audience threw me off) but it was an overwhelmingly positive experience to speak, on stage, to this person who had called me trash.

That said, Robyn had already changed. We were on the same page and this wasn’t a debate. I suspect having a conversation with other people who called me trash (and still believe that I am trash) would have been much more contentious.

So I don’t really think this is a podcast about crossing ideological lines as much as it is a show about change, forgiveness, and putting down our preconceived notions and getting to know people as individuals. I hope you listen. Here’s the correct link:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/conversations-with-people-who-hate-me/id1257821731#episodeGuid=prx_124_4ce2a53f-e2c2-4b4a-b563-10d649b07921 …

Also Jason Sudeikis was there and I had a conversation with him without realizing who he is because I’m an idiot.
