If you have friends who are pessimistic and defeatist you might feel like cutting them off but an alternative is limiting your time with them and not taking the things they say personally.

If you limit your time with them instead of cutting them off they might cut you off because they think you’re not giving them enough support. However if this happens don’t stress yourself because you did all you could while thinking about your own health.
