I strongly support Regional Measure 3 - a bridge toll increase to generate nearly $5 billion to fund mass transit & freeway projects over the next 25 years. This measure will dramatically improve BART, get rail extended to downtown SF, etc. Let’s pass it!https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Measure-3-seeks-to-ease-traffic-congestion-by-12929826.php?t=cee4adc25b …

Exactly. If anything increase tourist related taxes/fees (e.g. fee to walk/ride a bike across GG bridge, higher hotel/Airbnb taxes, etc). That demand is inelastic.

California is heavily dependent on income taxes on high earners. We have a wide mix of revenue sources. Bridge tolls are part of that mix and a crucial way to fund public transit, which significantly benefits transit-dependent low income communities.

For
@Scott_Wiener, do you know why they chose bridge tolls as opposed to other revenue sources? For@fredamoon, California’s tax revenue structure is highly volatile and unpredictable *because* of its progressivity. Yes but the proceeds are also allocated toward BART expansion and more ferry access so you’re also funding future infrastructure that will enable higher commuter throughput from these regions too.
