well affordable housing in most countries with Anglo-rooted property systems generally requires public subsidy. Actually probably in most industrialized economic systems. I can't think of one that doesn't require it.

Property owners must not be asked to carry more burden for social good. If It should, it should come from every person in Berkeley in form of a.residency tax. I will see how many will vote for that.

If one would like more freedom over one’s property, let’s make it so- I can do whatever I want with my plot (eg build multi-unit)...why should I be hostage to what my neighbors think? Current system a big drag on my freedom and privately-funded new development
