Making more land available for homes and building more will reduce their price, increase the tax base, and help the problem a lot more.

Last night I got the idea that a UBI which starts with seniors and marches to earlier ages over time might be politically feasible. Eases out existing wealth transfers.

Would that pay enough money to justify new construction though? If a new house or condo costs $250,000 (not unreasonable in 90% of the country), that's a $75,000/year renter/homeowner. And since new construction plus time is how we get old construction...
