In SF, our shelter occupancy rate for our ~1,200 beds sits at around 94 percent (for around 7,000 people that are homeless on any given night in the city).https://twitter.com/dillonliam/status/994258313591144448 …

And the only reason we have empties is because the city holds vacancies- we have over 1,000 in wait list for shelter

New shelters like the 125-bed Division & South Van Ness near my apartment are a good stop gap solution. 125 beds, showers, bathrooms, 24/7 support. Opening next month! More creative solutions are needed.

Is this a regular shelter open to all or restricted?

Am not familiar with the regular vs. restricted shelters. To my knowledge, this shelter will service any person who needs shelter and is not in need of mental health care. Jeff K or
@HillaryRonen may be able to clarify.@MLNow from Feb:https://missionlocal.org/2018/02/sf-residents-cautiously-embrace-new-navigation-center-on-13th-st/ …2 replies 0 retweets 1 like
shelters have waiting lists and there is a set of criteria for how to prioritize those in more urgent need (for example, women in late stage pregnancy, etc). @JeffKositsky or @TheCoalitionSF can add more detail.

It's a temporary navigation center = very restricted!
