This makes it 100% clear to me and hopefully everyone else "One reason I opposed SB827" Jane opposed the housing bill that was crucially needed and joined the NIMBYs in blocking housing for all Californians. Not sure what to say after that.

So hosting a rally in a centrally located transit hub near expensive homes constitutes colluding with NIMBYs? I don't like NIMBYs, but at least they don't pretend to speak for "all Californians" when they really just speak for the affluent, urban ones with higher educations.

But then again you retweet Richard Branson, a marauding capitalist who has built much of his fortune on public goods, subsidized by the British taxpayer. Makes perfect sense that you'd support a developer giveaway like SB 827.

I think you’re missing the forest for the trees. Every year the existing 124,000 single family homes become less affordable at a rate of $300K per year or close to $40B. Developers have historically built like 2K units a year in SF.

And single family homes will continue to rise in value with more multi-unit housing being built. That makes SFHs even more scarce, even more precious. I.e., your stat is meaningless with regard to a position on SB827, which would result in more multi-unit construction.

The fact of the matter is, sure, we need more housing, but citing the rise in SFH values is not germane to the pro-SB827 argument. Anyone in real estate would tell you it would just make a single family home more of a rarity, and more valuable.

... but then we would also have more homes of other types for all the 300,000 Californians that are born or migrate to this state net every year...? Do you have a plan to house the 300K/yr people this state adds every year?

Do you have an argument that doesn't silence the voices of vulnerable communities that Scott Wiener has refused to work with directly? Do you have a position that isn't based on the first thing you learn in high school econ?

Steamrolling communities with market-rate housing isn't the answer either. That's no better than Ted Cruz arguing that "access" to health care is what is important

SB827's tenant provisions were an afterthought, and that is obvious. The people behind it do not understand poverty, plain and simple. Trust will be hard for them to earn going forward.

They weren’t an afterthought. Were you involved in shaping the bill at all?

You referring to how Scott refused to meet with
@CrenshawSubway, or how 37 LA community groups, largely representing working class people of color, opposed the bill? http://allianceforcommunitytransit.org/l-a-community-organizations-oppose-sb-827/ …0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
