Only if I made “paper thin grandstands” but that’s never been my style — except in the eyes of a few knee-jerk YIMBY detractors.

This makes it 100% clear to me and hopefully everyone else "One reason I opposed SB827" Jane opposed the housing bill that was crucially needed and joined the NIMBYs in blocking housing for all Californians. Not sure what to say after that.

So hosting a rally in a centrally located transit hub near expensive homes constitutes colluding with NIMBYs? I don't like NIMBYs, but at least they don't pretend to speak for "all Californians" when they really just speak for the affluent, urban ones with higher educations.

But then again you retweet Richard Branson, a marauding capitalist who has built much of his fortune on public goods, subsidized by the British taxpayer. Makes perfect sense that you'd support a developer giveaway like SB 827.

I think you’re missing the forest for the trees. Every year the existing 124,000 single family homes become less affordable at a rate of $300K per year or close to $40B. Developers have historically built like 2K units a year in SF.

That’s a lot of trees. Thankfully Jane Kim brought the revenue with her real estate transfer tax to maintain & plant thousands of street trees on San Francisco sidewalks AND make city college free at the same time. She will make a great mayor!

To subsidize a single housing unit that is accessible to a median income earning household in SF, generally need a taxpayer subsidy of at least $300,000 per unit. SF has historically only ever approved $410M in affordable housing bond money sooooo that’s not very many units. And

Of the funding that exists, I think we agree that low and very low income households should be prioritized. But for the rest, from a regional perspective, you need market-rate construction to keep the mega-region at least somewhat accessible to the middle class.

Jane Kim didn’t work to stop all housing development in her district; she negotiated to get more affordable middle class & low income housing. Wouldn’t have happened w/o her intervention. I was in the room when she got 40% affordable with the @SFGiants. She’ll make a fine mayor!

Mayor’s office probably went in for the bones and left overs which couldn’t have been much or they just lied which wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if any of your policies actually helped anybody because all I see is rising rents and a shortage of housing.
