In the tenant movement, opposition to Prop 13 has been a given for 40 years. It was supported by the realtors and landlords, however. Howard Jarvis was the lobbyist for the LA apartment owners association.

one thing that really irritates me though frankly is that the tenant movement fights property owners every day and YIMBYs just pretend that completely doesn't exist

They also don’t know that people looked to get rid of Prop 13 from the day it was passed, and their friends the realtors have been the major finders to maintain and expand it. And they think we could just snap our fingers and get rid of it.

also funny because everyone I know personally who has worked full time to challenge Prop 13 is part of the SF "progressive NIMBY" nexus or whatever. my friend who was the Evolve director works in Supe Fewer's office now
