a big reason that america has a reactionary political culture in general is because republicans argue and fight for their reactionary values while democrats try to trick business and voters into accidentally doing good things in the process of enriching themselves

ya in 99% of policy issues this approach sucks but the "houses in california are unaffordable for people making $80k a year" problem, it really is something that the private market can easily solve
