My version of utopia is out of reach as well, but at least I’m realistic about it and the constraints we work with, so I advocate for less government. More government means they never go away, and usually fail miserably, or give a self selecting power hungry group more control.

Lack of government does not mean some entity is not controlling you. Atrophy of public governance can lead to private, unaccountable governance by other entities, which also hoard power and never go away.

I don’t want a lack of government. I want an efficient and lean government with transparency and one in which I have a voice in how my tax dollars are spent. Once you take what is absolutely necessary, why can’t I give the rest to something I really care about?

You have a voice in how government dollars are spent. It just takes a lot of time and energy to do the research and figure out the levers of influence! Lean and efficient are also subjective! In what sense? Serving whom?
