We could've done better at yesterday's SB827 rally. YIMBYs counterprotested, but shouldn’t have drowned out Chinatown/Mission/Western Addition speakers concerned about displacement. There’s greater anger & distrust from those most impacted by this crisis, & that’s on us.

tenant orgs have been fighting for housing that costs more than $300,000 per unit in public taxpayer subsidy each, of which the voters have only approved $100M and $310M in two separate bonds since 1996. We should approve bigger local funding sources, of course!

Tenants orgs seem to care more about effort/virtue signaling (“fighting hard”) than impact (getting a lot of housing built)
