Leno's linking for profit SRO vacancies to housing for homeless persons "is like seeing vacant tables in a restaurant and identifying that as a solution to hunger, " @SFyimby, @SonjaTrausshttp://goo.gl/hdnqev

I don’t know much about homelessness policy, but I was very impressed by Randy’s article.

Thanks Jason. We work so hard to find SRO rooms for homeless persons that for Leno to look at a list of vacancies and assume they would be available to people coming out of shelters makes no sense.

http://sfpublicpress.org/news/2018-03/rebuttal-to-beyond-chron-criticism-of-public-press-report-on-sro-vacancies … I am not in a position to critique Leno's plan yet having not scoured it, but Shaw and I are not in agreement on some basic elements of its premise.

If Leno said he would "immediately" move people into these rooms, that would be difficult. SRO owners are under no obligation to rent them out. The city would have to negotiate. And many of these rooms may not be habitable.
