OK, it’s on. How can @janekim oppose transit-oriented development from a largely single-family neighborhood while supporting a plan that will bring 40,000 jobs and only 7,000 housing units to SOMA, clearly creating displacement pressure in the East Bay and rest of SF?https://twitter.com/scott_wiener/status/974357107586641920 …

Katy Tang doesn't support the current version of SB827. If the most pro-market rate housing Supervisor isn't comfortable with it, why is everyone freaking about Jane?

Tell me if I'm wrong here, but it plays like she's trying to be all things to all people - an urbanist to people in D6, and a local control/local character supporter to people in the western neighborhoods.

Not putting the event on her official campaign page, and taking down the facebook video after seeing the Twitter/FB reaction, says to me that this is more about votes and less about policy.

Consistency may be the hobgoblin of small minds, but unless she can articulate a coherent strategy to tangibly combat housing issues, this has really soured things for me.

I hear you. There’s a housing debate on Saturday. I assume Jane and the other candidates will put out more detailed policy proposals. Wait and judge that. We’re all getting caught up in twitter outrage spirals.

$1 billion dollar housing bond could get better ROI with more density and allocation across a large geographic cross-section of the city.

How many units does $1 billion build?

Can be leveraged or borrowed against to build more (cc @sammymoss425). Also it’s necessary, especially at a time when the GOP tax plan guts LIHTC credits.

Right, I guess what I'm asking is, what does a $1B bond achieve, vs. what would SB 827 do?
