OK, it’s on. How can @janekim oppose transit-oriented development from a largely single-family neighborhood while supporting a plan that will bring 40,000 jobs and only 7,000 housing units to SOMA, clearly creating displacement pressure in the East Bay and rest of SF?https://twitter.com/scott_wiener/status/974357107586641920 …

The other huge difference here is that
@JaneKim threw this rally at West Portal Station, a neighborhood that the UCB Displacement Project has highlighted as participating in "ongoing exclusion."https://www.sfgate.com/living/article/gentrification-bay-area-displacement-housing-sf-12366854.php … -
Wanting to ensuring 827 includes adequate protection against displacement is an admirable goal. Siding with rich, white homeowners who don't want below market rate or market rate apartments near them is not.

I don't know. But between Tang and Peskin's comments and the latest SF Planning memo, it seems clear SB827 is far away from being ready for prime time. I wish we could all take a deep breath and hold off on accusations until we see language that could actually be voted on.

What issues did planning identify that made it not ready?
