I have to agree w @beyondchron regarding Central SOMA plan. As we’ve seen, job creation without commensurate building of housing will lead to displacement. The twitter tax break didn’t make a big difference in terms of job creation. Twitter never seriously considered leaving. Twitter had five other options in SF. Brisbane was not a serious consideration. The tax break did make a big difference in mid-market though.

The point here is that while focusing on job creation is important, unless you create an equal number of housing units, you will inevitably push people with high salaries to move into surrounding neighborhoods where they will push out existing residents.

I’m from the South Bay and I hope that while you’re down serving there, you see how wildly insane and stupid the policy is and how that maybe informs some of my opinions on the rest of the Bay Area.
