So for homeowners (of a certain age) with pensions, 1970’s property tax rates are preserved, and new tax revenue is plundered to fund their pensions? Meanwhile,certain homeowners fight new housing and call proponents of such (most who will never see a pension) entitled?

More or less... sucks for the new public sector workers bc their pensions and benefits are going to be the ones to get cut, which inhibits our recruitment capabilities of qualified teachers, civil servants going forward.

I’m new to California and trying to understand the mess that is Prop 13. I haven’t met a single person who thinks it’s a good policy. Why hasn’t it been repealed? Has it ever been attempted?
