Will this change with zoning changes tho? Won't newly upzoned property continue to gain value if it can be turned into larger, denser, housing?

Land per unit costs would go down. See condos being worth 500K or so less than the homes.

You should move to Shanghai or Shenzhen where there are plenty of high rise buildings. Not a snarky comment, I’m telling you SF is third world compared to some places in China.

I’ve been to both! Love the food. Tokyo seems like a nice medium — lots of density but not so much pollution like mainland China.

And people accuse developers of taking in windfall profits and driving up housing costs.

Waves of insanity are rippling through the East Bay. SFH in nice-but-not-posh Alameda, Oakland hills, Albany, El Cerrito, etc. are now routinely selling for $100-200K+ over asking price. Even in slow season. Reminds me of PA/MP in the late ‘90s.

Unbelievable. Every time people accuse me of being a shill for developers, i want to link to stats like this. “My house is worth 30% more and I’m saying build build build.”
