The MacCarthur bart tower is a huge highrise, YIMBYs are pushing an up to 30 story tower in my primarily SFH / duplex neighborhood, these are not small or middle scale projects.

American zoning generally lends itself to either exurban sprawl or urban towers because single-family zoning is enshrined in stone and there’s little flexibility to add triplexes or duplexes to single family neighborhoods under these conditions.
