In this case, this is split roll.

What is the new money going to? Without direction, if it goes to the general fund, it will be automagically absorbed to pay of unfunded benefits. Or will it be thrown at transit with the different results expected...? https://la.streetsblog.org/2018/02/01/new-ucla-study-examines-transit-ridership-decline-blames-increased-car-ownership/ …

If we can pass both this and the (from what I've read, shockingly progressive) housing bond measure that's also in the pipeline—Wow. Shame that it exempts *all* agricultural property, but I assume that was a strategic decision.

They did their homework: 1) Doesn't focus on corp vs non-corp, but goes for broader (smarter) scope of "commercial"; 2) Exempts property of small biz owners; 3) Doesn't include millionaire residential landlords (sigh), but probably a smart strategic decision. 4) Hope it Wins!

Why don't you just call it what it is - a massive Sacramento tax grab

You do know that prop. 13 doesn't stop taxes. It just pushes them into stupider forms of taxes. Like sales taxes.

Oh great. We're finally adding common sense things like: 1. No pass down of basis for mansions. 2. No protections beyond a single primary residence. 3. No protections if your income in the prior year was greater than $500k. 4. No protections for "homes" worth > $3 million. Sigh
