where is anything that I have written over the last four years have I ever said I want totally unrestricted, unfettered building? You are not paying attention.

Here's a project for 70 low-income units that is taking 4+ years and $60M+ dollars *excluding land costs* it's $427K per unit, excluding land. Tell me how much $1B gets you? (not much). Necessary but not sufficient.http://www.socketsite.com/archives/2018/02/projected-timing-and-cost-for-affordable-housing-on-mission-bay-block-9.html …

I’m sure you know well how difficult it is to build on Mission Bay, so I don’t think that example can be generalized

I can certainly generalize it all over the entire Bay Area, because I follow many projects all over the Bay Area. It's actually easier to build in Mission Bay than the rest of SF because there are fewer established constituencies there to oppose you.

Regarding
@JaneKim, the $80 million sale of 30 Van Ness was voted down because she wanted a higher affordable housing percentage: https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/blog/real-estate/2016/09/30-van-ness-san-francisco-housing-development.html … Project was delayed about a year and new price was $10 million less for higher affordable http://hoodline.com/2017/06/49-floor-mixed-use-development-proposed-for-van-ness-market …4 replies 0 retweets 6 likes -

I suppose I don’t get the negative framing of this. Is it bad to want more affordable units now?

I never try to be negative or positive. I try to provide facts so you can form your own opinions. This is the strongest example I’ve seen of Kim’s “history of slowing housing in her district” Also
@SupervisorTang has pushed for higher density via Home-SFhttps://mobile.twitter.com/sfyimby/status/965333425262542848 …Roland Li added,
SF YIMBY @SFyimbyReplying to @AppleNewsGuy @kimmaicutler and 5 othersSup Jane has a history of slowing housing in her district - as does every Supervisor. None have strongly advocated for changing zoning to get more housing built in districts other than 6 and 10. We'd like to see anyone with a commitment to more density equity and faster!1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

Developers have said that Kim and Peskin’s Prop C slowed housing applications (that was citywide not just D6) https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/news/2017/05/18/sf-affordable-housing-compromise-development.html … - lately they’ve told me rising construction costs is the biggest issue Kim and Peskin also supported the Mission Moratorium (D9).

Breed also supported the Mission Moratorium.

it's almost like this rabid anti-Breed folks are motivated by factional loyalty as the policy stakes in this election are quite unclear

Yes, I checked tape and didn’t see her talk about why. Note it was after the measure was almost assured of defeat when Julie Christensen said at beginning of hearing she was voting no (needed 9 ayes) https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/morning_call/2015/06/mission-moratorium-fail-san-francisco-supervisors.html …
