I would support excluding commercial property from prop 13 @kimmaicutler (38m). Still needed for residential to preserve home affordability for seniors. Many were forced out before prop 13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7G8gmzK6bE …

Did you know that prop13 rates can be passed down to your children and grandchildren? It's bizarre

Are you living in your parents’ home and inheriting their tax rate, thereby starving public services of resources and compelling your city to do things like attract tech cos to cover its endless pension liabilities?

So lmgtr - you are suggesting sensible planning & growth is forcing people to live with their parents? You suggest this caused the unfunded benefits crisis? Quite absurd! Nice #ConspiracyTheory

You really think Wiener's #sb827 which will open up a luxury development free for all statewide will help in any way? Should we abandon sensible planning and degrade quality of life for all? Didn't expect my own home in my 20s - ridiculous - I lived in W London & shared a house.

she doesn't want to live in the family compound (her sibs do?) says she's "displaced" to east bay by high rents but has massive pay, low tax

The message seems to boil down to "abandon sensible planning so we can allow entitled kids to live where they want". Of course the luxury units that get built won't achieve any of that - and as for trickle down, really...?

There is nothing that sensible about the way the current Bay Area is planned with 20+ separate transit agencies and people mega-commuting from central CA because we have low density housing by billions of dollars of public transit infrastructure.

And given that the Bay Area’s real estate values generally double every economic upcycle given that the regions builds very little relative to population growth, you are effectively advocating for displacement, overcrowding and megacommuting. You are advocating for drowning.

Back to the same old fallacy: 105' buildings literally everywhere, enriching developers but harming communities are the solution
