Juuuust reminded myself that the max capacity of this fault would feel about 500 times stronger.https://twitter.com/quakesinca/status/948867882632564737 …

There’s a 33 percent chance of this particular fault, which hasn’t had a major earthquake since 1868, having a 6.7+ event in the next few decades & 67 percent chance across all major Bay Area faults of having a 7.0+ earthquake in the next 30 years. https://pubs.usgs.gov/sir/2017/5013/sir20175013ah.pdf …

Look up your NERT or CERT training classes from your local fire department. They're free! Learn light search & rescue, how to triage victims, how to work with your neighbors in the event of a disaster. http://sf-fire.org/neighborhood-emergency-response-team-nert …

Last night’s quake was the largest one on the Hayward Fault since 1981. As you can see, we’ve been abnormally quiet for the last century. Accumulated slip deficits of more than a meter are largest south of Oakland w/ a patch around Fremont. http://temblor.net/earthquake-insights/largest-hayward-fault-earthquake-since-1981-raises-questions-about-what-could-happen-next-5999/ …pic.twitter.com/OtrH4bJEfP

Do you happen to remember what the reference for the emergency kit was? The blog seems to have been removed.

Serious q: where do you store the stuff in your place? I’ve spent some time thinking about strategic location but it’s hard to game out scenarios. Kitchen cabinet right by the door? Upstairs bathroom closest to our bedroom? These are the things I worry about

Prob garage. I’m still trying to figure out where to put water containers.

I highly recommend enrolling in Community Emergency Response Training (CERT). Here's the link, but the website maintenance appears to be another casualty of FEMA cuts.
