There are ~30,000 vacant homes in San Francisco. Why emphasis on building skyscrapers that'd add far fewer units than policies addressing vacant properties as solution to affordability crisis? I'm frustrated w limited vision of YIMBY folks to market-driven solutions. What about laws limiting property ownership in cities to one property per person? What about reserving X% of housing for people who work full-time in a city, from janitors to fast-food workers to writers?

@DavidChiu did propose removing the CA mortgage interest deduction for second homes this cycle and got shut down by the real estate industry and 2) there are state goals for housing production at multiple income tiers from very low-income and up but they are unenforceable1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
