That has always been the problem. Not enough money and somehow, not-so-mysteriously, often times the “temporarily” moved people don’t get to come back. The communities remember this and they don’t trust the process anymore.

yeah that latter problem is massive. also the process is often paternalistic as fuck. should be done w/ full buyin from current occupants; HK does a suprisingly great job of this. not perfect but way better than US

I’m sure this is a naïve question, but has an attempt ever been made to replace a building by acquiring a diff property, building the replacement, and just moving them to the new location…never temporarily displacing the residents?

happens a lot in other places, prob not feasible for SF because there arent a lot of empty lots left in SF.
