@DonaldFalk Is money and zoning really the only thing keeping SROs from being replaced with taller, newer supportive housing? -
another obvious issue is where the people in the buildings getting replaced live in the interim 1 to (3? 5? 50000? this is SF after all) years while the new building is being built

Is the issue that if it was up-zoned for higher buildings that the low-income housing would be removed? Seems like an opportunity to increase low-income housing, *and* market rate housing (don't know the politics well enough to know if this is reasonable though).

If it were a normal European, South American or Asian city it might be a lot smaller. Paris is 3x as dense as San Francisco, for example.
