There’s also the stupid tax bill. Will be curious to see how the state leg tries to recapture part of the corporate tax cut this session.

Also it’s improved to remember that CA through Prop. 13 is basically structured to let landowners absorb a disproportionate share of the economic pie. And the insensitive renters you see at those meetings are probably technically rent burdened too

A tax on gross/net rents IS NOT precluded under Prop 13. A 5% tax on gross/net rents = ~3% tax on property FMV. Wish you'd get off "Repeal Prop 13" kick & push taxes on gross rents. They're mainly equivalent & a gross rents tax DOESN'T potentially displace lower income homeowners

Not sure this is true? CAs general fund is reliant on the wealthy though lots of rich people in CA outside of tech. Have been funny flukes like the google ipo creating a multi billion unexpected windfall though that still was just a couple percent of full GF
