Whatever the merits of another bridge over Bay, a 2nd transbay rail crossing - for BART (think 24 hr service), connecting Caltrain/Capitol Corridor, high speed rail to East Bay/Sacramento - is higher priority. More public transit is what reduces traffic.http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Feinstein-Traffic-is-terrible-Build-a-new-bridge-12410794.php?t=d5d6cc5d56 …

And what are you doing to expedite that? I don’t understand how the Transbay Tube was built in less than 10 years (in 1965-74), where current estimates seem to put a new tube at ~20 years. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Why can’t we make it happen faster? We need these now

Well, I fight like a dog for more transit funds, and we passed multiple major funding bills this year. This a $10 billion project and it’s behind the downtown rail extension and some other key projects. We are all committed to making it happen but it won’t be fast, given cost.

When is the soonest we can put it on the ballot? 2020? Why is no one working on this beyond toll increases through RM3?
