Yes because having the world’s sixth largest economy, the most valuable companies in the world, the best public university system is all evidence that we should do it the opposite way.

6th largest economy is what they say... but when measured per capita and including cost of living? Probably mid-teens and behind Mexico. Last I saw from those who do the apples-to-apples stuff, anyway. Fluctuates tho.

Politics aside, governments should not be in the business of subsidizing homeownership through tax policies. Artificially inflates house prices for a commodity that is real estate & increases systemic risks in households & the wider economy.

Kind of the same effect as eliminating Prop 13. These owners will now have to pay more in taxes that fund government services. Those who can’t afford it will sell, creating more supply on the market, lowering prices and increasing affordability. Yah?

California is already a huge donor state to the federal budget. After this boondoggle passes, we will be keeping red America solvent. Has there been a run on Incline Village property yet?
-
Eh, the latest report from CA LAO showed that for every $1 California sent to Washington DC, California gets back $.99.
