Preservation of brownstones and the campaign for affordable housing requirements was hardly overrcorrecting NIMBYism.
Why is it ipso facto fine for new build to instantly become a luxury asset and ipso facto bad for some preserved brownstones to become same
Cultural marketing and climbing property value is fine if it enriches a developer (YIMBY), but not if it enriches a community?
A community is split into property owners and tenants. When property values rise, one is advantaged and the other is disadvantaged.
If the American system of property rights & housing as an asset, makes this inevitable, why not allow more people to participate in it from
